Board Nominations
The Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians Nominating Committee is seeking quality leaders who are willing to serve on the LAFP Board of Directors. Board members are expected to attend meetings, and to take part in the decision-making process. They are also required to exercise a reasonable degree of knowledge, skill and care in bringing their best judgment to the performance of their responsibilities. The Board meets four times a year with meetings scheduled during the spring (March/April), summer (Annual Assembly), fall (September/October), and winter (January/February).
It is the duty of the Board members to remain informed on the problems of the Louisiana Academy; to study the materials that are distributed to them; and to exercise sound judgment in arriving at decisions. The Board of Directors exercise the ultimate executive responsibility and authority of the Louisiana Academy. The duty of the Board is to act in the best interest of the Academy. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The LAFP Executive Committee has full authority to act for and in behalf of the LAFP Board of Directors whenever the business of the Academy demands prompt action in the interim between meetings of the Board or when it is impracticable or impossible to convene the Board of Directors. The Executive Committee is also responsible for evaluating and making recommendations to the Board concerning the internal affairs of the Academy.

OPERATIONS COMMITTEE
The LAFP Operations Committee is responsible for maintaining a sound financial policy for the Academy, supervising the Academy’s investments, maintaining the TAFP reserves and their distribution, monitoring the Academy’s capital expenses, and reviewing the profit and loss of the Academy’s various programs.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE
The LAFP Nominating Committee presents to the LAFP Board of Directors nominations for LAFP officers, a LAFP Delegate and Alternate Delegate to the Congress of the AAFP, Family Physician of the Year, reviews the nominations of Directors and Alternate Directors to the LAFP Board and makes recommendations to the President regarding appointments to the AAFP, other state committees and commissions, and any other appointments, which may be requested.

EDUCATION COMMITTEE
The Committee on Education defines the LAFP educational mission statement and ensures that the LAFP is working to fulfill it. This committee also works to periodically assess the educational needs of LAFP members, develops learning objectives consistent with those identified educational needs, identifies speakers capable of meeting those learning objectives and assess the effectiveness of its educational activities in meeting the educational needs of LAFP members. This committee is also charged with maintaining contact and cooperation with the AAFP Commission on Continuing Medical Education and to ensure continued compliance with requirements for certification by the Accreditation Council of Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
The Committee on Education is also responsible for planning the LAFP Annual Assembly and Scientific Program and other continuing education activities as deemed necessary by the LAFP and its members.

LEGISLATIVE & MEMBERSHIP ISSUES COMMITTEE
The Legislative and Membership Issues Committ eeassumes a proactive approach in the health care delivery system by maintaining legislative awareness that allows proactive responses in any area of importance to the members of the LAFP and their patients. The committee also oversees membership recruitment and retention efforts.
