Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort

Hurricane Help...

We have had phone calls and e-mails from our members, sister states and national academy regarding the needs of our state. We have been in contact with the Department of Public Health and the Red Cross concerning coordination of volunteers and donations of medical supplies. At this time, they are still trying to identify needs. At this time, they do know:

They are in need of any and all medical supplies; insulin, antibiotics, etc., any general supplies. If you have supplies that you could donate, please indicate on the volunteer form and return to LAFP office.

If you know a specific need from one of our members, please also submit that information.

The AAFP has coordinated a relief fund for the affected states. You can make a donation online by going to http://www.aafpfoundation.org/x644.xml and clicking "Donate online using a credit card." You also can send a contribution to the AAFP Foundation at 11400 Tomahawk Creek Parkway, Leawood, KS 66211. To ensure your donation is restricted for response to Hurricane Katrina, please write in the memo section of your check, Hurricane Katrina-General Disaster Relief and/or Physician Assistance .
