American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) has recently produced video news releases to help journalists illustrate the role of family medicine in today’s healthcare system.
There are currently five different videos on the AAFP Web site that highlight a few of the important day-to-day activities that family physicians perform.
The five videos specifically detail the following:
The Specialty of Family Medicine–describing its scope and its role in today’s healthcare system
Family Medicine and Preventive Care–detailing family physicians’ special training in preventive medicine and their ability to help maintain their patients’ health
Family Medicine and Chronic Care Management–describes family physicians’ training in all major aspects of the medical field and their ability to treat the wide range of issues that patients may present
Family Medicine and Health Information Technology–shows how family physicians implement the most up-to-date technologies and equipment to help treat their patients
Fixing Healthcare: What Women Want–describes the results of an AAFP poll that uncovered that women want a healthcare system where they can receive coordinated follow-up care if they require hospitalization, be seen by their doctor the day they become ill and they can easily obtain prescriptive services.
