AAFP Seeks Nominations for American Board of Family Medicine Board of Directors
The American Academy of Family Physicians is seeking nominations from its constituent chapters for the American Board of Family Medicine board of directors. LAFP must submit any nominations to AAFP by Monday, June 16, 2008.
Each nomination must be accompanied by a photograph, curriculum vitae and a two-page personal statement (outlining interest in the position and a general philosophy of family medicine).
All nominations are screened by a committee composed of nine general members of the AAFP board. The screening committee will present the names of six nominees to the AAFP Congress of Delegates, with the Congress determining the three nominees to be presented to the American Board of Family Medicine.
Criteria for nominees include:
- The nominee’s current and/or past medical experience should include a substantial amount of clinical experience devoted to family medicine.
- The nominee must have demonstrated leadership and understanding in the philosophy of family medicine.
- The nominee must submit evidence of willingness and physical ability to meet the commitments required by this appointment.
- The nominee shall be nominated by his/her constituent chapter or the AAFP board of directors.
- The nominee must be a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine, pursuant to that organization’s bylaws. (According to AFFM bylaws, all directors must be board certified for the duration of their term of office on the ABFM board.)
