2008 AAFP Robert Graham Physician Executive Award Nomination Deadline: March 28
The Robert Graham Physician Executive Award was established by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) board of directors to acknowledge annually one outstanding family physician for their role as a physician executive.
The award is reserved for an AAFP member whose executive skills in healthcare organizations have contributed to excellence in the provision of high quality, cost-effective healthcare.
The award was named in honor of Dr. Robert Graham, AAFP executive vice president from
1985 – 2000, and first recipient of the award. Dr. Graham dedicated his career to improving healthcare access and fostering the tenets of family medicine. His long-term dedication and commitment to the specialty of family medicine and healthcare as a whole were the principle foundations for the creation of this award.
Over the years, this national award has honored and recognized a diverse group of physician leaders whose executive skills have transformed healthcare delivery and improved patient care. These skills may be demonstrated at the community, state and national level.
Nominations for this national award will be reviewed by a screening committee comprised of members of the AAFP Commission on Practice Enhancement and the Commission on Quality. Screening committee members will review each nominee based upon the following selection criteria:
- Recognized for outstanding executive skills in healthcare organizations by contributing to excellence in the provision of high quality healthcare, foster the tenets of family medicine and enabling their organization to have a positive impact on improving health;
- Nominees must have a minimum of five years experience in an executive leadership position; and
- Must be a current AAFP member.

In order for LAFP to forward a nomination to AAFP on time, nominations must be received by LAFP no later than Friday, March 28.
