AAFP Exemplary Teaching Award Nominations Due Jan. 30
LAFP wants your suggestions for an Louisiana nominee in the volunteer category for the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) 2009 Exemplary Teaching Awards. Nominations are due Friday, Jan. 30.
These awards were developed by the AAFP Commission on Education in conjunction with the Commission on Membership and Member Services Subcommittee on Chapter Affairs to acknowledge AAFP members who deserve recognition for excellence in teaching as well as individuals who have implemented outstanding education programs and/or developed innovative teaching models.
Each candidate must be a current member of AAFP. Previous winners of the Thomas W. Johnson Award are not eligible to receive the Exemplary Teaching Awards.
The nominees will be evaluated based upon the following criteria:
1. Recognized for exemplary teaching skills and outstanding progression of abilities over several years by medical students, residents or peers.
Or
2. Developed and implemented innovative curriculum, teaching model(s) or program(s) in a variety of education spheres.
The awards presentation will take place in October at the 2009 Scientific Assembly in Boston.

In order for LAFP to forward nominations to AAFP on time, nominations must be received by LAFP no later than Friday, Jan. 30.
