Pentacel Vaccine Available
Sanofi Pasteur, the vaccines division of the sanofi-aventis Group, announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has licensed Pentacel®, Diphtheria and Tetanus Toxoids and Acellular Pertussis Adsorbed, Inactivated Poliovirus and Haemophilus b Conjugate (Tetanus Toxoid Conjugate) Vaccine. Pentacel® vaccine is indicated for active immunization against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliomyelitis, and invasive disease due to Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). Pentacel® vaccine is approved for use in infants and children 6 weeks through 4 years of age (prior to fifth birthday). Read more...

A convergence of three policies could reduce physician Medicare payments by 14.9 – 22.3% in 2008, which could jeopardize access for Medicare beneficiaries in underserved areas.
