Healthcare Leaders Meet With Obama on Cost-Cutting

A group of healthcare reform stakeholders met with President Obama and administration officials today to discuss reducing the growth rate of healthcare costs. The diverse group included insurers, hospitals, manufacturers, and physicians.
In a letter to the President the group asserted that "the proper approach to achieve and sustain reduced cost growth is one that will: improve the population's health; continuously improve quality; encourage the advancement of medical treatments, approaches, and science; streamline administration; and encourage efficient care delivery based on evidence and best practice." The group has pledged to make a major reduction in cost growth as part of comprehensive health reform.
