2007 State Poster Contest Winners!! Congratulations to Zachary Hyde
Family Doctors must help children make the right choice to stay tobacco-free. Without your help, tobacco companies will seduce more young people and make them tobacco addicts. Tar Wars’ mission is to keep kids tobacco-free for life.
The 2008 campaign of Tar Wars in Louisiana has commenced. The state’s four Area Health Education Centers (AHEC), Baton Rouge General, and other groups are organized for Tar Wars classroom presentations and the poster contests.
Please help by presenting Tar Wars at your local school. Learn all you need to know at www.tarwars.org. We are winning many battles, but need more presenters, more warriors. We need you.
Present Tar Wars and tell children about the area poster contest and its prizes. Below is contact info for the contests which are organized by areas and Parishes:

Area poster contests will precede the state-wide poster contest in Baton Rouge in May. The LAFP Foundation Tar Wars Poster Contest has been scheduled for Friday, May 9, 2008. This year’s deadline to submit the winning posters to the LAFP is April 30, 2008. The national Tar Wars poster contest will be in Washington, DC, on 21 July. At every level there are great prizes for contest winners.
Note that Dr. Burroughs at Baton Rouge General will again host the contest for East Baton Rouge Parish public schools. He has done this for about 20 years, making him Louisiana’s Tar Warrior with the longest tour of duty. He’s inspiring and continues to lead. Congratulations Dr. Burroughs.
If you are not already one, become a Tar Warrior. We need more than a few. Contact any of us identified in this article as desired.
Join up! It’s the right (and easy) thing to do!
