The Louisiana Health Care Quality Forum will be at the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians on October 4th at 11:30am to 12:30pm to conduct a presentation and explain the CMS Electronic Health Records Demonstration that is available for Louisiana primary care practices. All members are welcome to attend. Please RSVP to the LAFP office at your earliest convenience.
As you may be aware, CMS is conducting a five-year demonstration for small to medium primary care practices to adopt and implement EHRs, with some financial incentives at stake, with the purpose of demonstrating how health information technology helps improve quality of care.
The Quality Forum is the Community Partner working with CMS to help explain the Demonstration and encourage eligible practices to apply. This presentation will allow you as a physician to ask questions directly and help weigh this opportunity for your practices more accurately. The presentation will briefly cover:
· Overview/purpose of the demonstration
· Practice eligibility
· The financial incentives potentially attainable
· Overview of the evaluation and selection of practices to participate
The application period has already begun (September 2nd - November 26th). Copies of the application will be available after the presentation and time will be allotted to take any questions providers have to ensure they understand this opportunity as well as how to fill out the application.
Please reply to the LAFP office at your earliest convenience if you plan to attend this meeting (jverret@lafp.org ) or call the office at (225-923-3313).
