Objective 1: Advocacy
1. To create successful medical homes so that family physicians can provide personal, comprehensive, continuing and cost effective patient care.
• Establish a state policy on the patient centered medical home.
• Draft legislation on the definition of the patient centered medical home.
• Increase communication between members and their legislators
Objective 2: Practice Enhancement
• Improve the reimbursement structure for family physicians.
• Education and training on the patient centered medical home.
Objective 3: Education
1. Educate LAFP members on the legislative and regulatory process and increase participation in legislative and regulatory issues and actions concerning family medicine.
• Increase LAFP and AHEC alliance
Objective 4: Health of the Public
• Educate the public about the patient centered medical home
Objective 5: Workforce
1. Identify and cultivates future family physicians to ensure a sufficient family medicine workforce for Louisiana.
• Increase awareness and availability of loan repayment programs for students and residents
• Establish a mentorship program for students to increase interest in family medicine
• Establish an alliance between the FMIG’s and the LAFP
Objective 6: Outreach
1. Increase recruitment efforts for new members and work to retain current members of the LAFP
• Increase active member participation in the LAFP
• Recruit new members for the LAFP
