LAFP will:
  1. Be recognized as the primary advocate for members and patients
  2. Be viewed as the most trusted voice on family medicine issues with state legislators, media and professional health organizations
  3. Serve as a leading source for patient‐centered medical home education and support in Louisiana
  4. Be the model for organized medicine on the regional, state and national level through visionary leadership.

Major purposes of the Academy include:
  • Advocating for family physicians to lawmakers, organized medicine and the public;
  • Providing high-quality continuing medical education to physicians in Louisiana;
  • Keeping members informed of changes in health care; and
  • Nurturing the next generation of family physicians.
