please contact The LAFP holds its 63rd Annual Assembly and Installs its 2010-2011 Officers Baton Rouge, LA. – The Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians (LAFP) held its 63rd Annual Assembly conference on July 1st – 4th in Destin, FL at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Approximately 70 family physicians from Louisiana and various states participated in this continuing medical education conference. Many renowned speakers presented up-to-the-minute information on a broad range of health topics. Subjects to be covered in this four-day session are very important to family physicians striving to provide optimum health care for their patients. Physicians earned up to 26.5 hours of continuing medical education at this year’s conference, making this an important medical education meeting for family physicians. During the four day conference, the 2010-2011 officers were installed by the American Academy of Family Physicians President, Dr. Lori Heim from North Carolina. Baton Rouge, LA. – The Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians (LAFP) announced the installation of its 2010-2011 President, who was sworn in at the inaugural luncheon in Destin, Florida on Saturday, July 3. Dr. Alan L. LeBato of Lake Charles became the 63rd President of the LAFP. Dr. LeBato is an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, La. He is a 1983 graduate of LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport. He completed his residency at the W.O. Moss Regional Family Practice Residency, where he served as chief resident in his third year. Dr. LeBato has been active in the American Academy of Family Physicians and is a Diplomate and Fellow of the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. LeBato worked in private practice for 14 years, and his practice in Sulphur, La., encompassed the full range of a family physician, including obstetrics, endoscopy, and other procedures. Dr. LeBato became program director in 1997 and continues to maintain private patients in the LSU Family Practice Center and teach procedural skills to residents. He is past president of the Calcasieu Parish Medical Society and the West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital and Lake Charles Memorial Hospital staff. He is a member of the President's Council Advisory Board for Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. Dr. LeBato is married with three children and enjoys tennis, jogging, hunting, and fishing. Headquartered in Baton Rouge, LA., the LAFP is a voluntary association providing leadership and
support to Louisiana's family physicians. It is composed of 1,500 members,
representing family physicians, family medicine residents and medical students
from around the state. All members of the LAFP must complete a minimum of 150
hours of accredited continuing medical education every three years. For more
