altLAFP offers leadership training through opportunities on committees as well as our Board of Directors. By being an Academy leader, you will have a voice and vote on key issues affecting the family medicine specialty.  LAFP provides opportunities for both Resident and Student members to coordinate statewide activities for the fellow family medicine colleagues.

LAFP 2011-2012 Resident & Student Leadership Positions
The LAFP highly values the contributions made by Family Medicine residents and medical students and recognizes the importance of training future leaders of medicine. We are one of the few specialty organizations to actively enlist resident and student members in leadership roles. Every year, the LAFP elects resident and student leaders to its Board of Directors and appoints two resident delegates and two student delegates to attend the AAFP’s National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students. The one-year officer and delegate positions offer a unique opportunity to champion Family Medicine while developing the leadership and advocacy skills your future requires. The 2011-2012 LAFP Resident and Student elections were held at the Louisiana Family Medicine Student and Resident Conference on Saturday, February 26th.
