The Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians cordially invites you to attend a CME presentation titled, “Obesity in 2026.”
Learning Objectives
- Recognize the prevalence of obesity in the US and the impact to the healthcare system.
- Review the best practices of a patient with obesity as the chief complaint.
- Summarize a comprehensive plan of care for obesity management that includes current pharmacotherapy, diet and exercise.

Attendance is free, but registration is required.
Program Faculty
Richard Bridges, MD, FAAFP, DABOMDr. Bridges is from Amite, Louisiana and is currently employed at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, LA. Dr. Bridges received his bachelor’s degree in microbiology and a Masters of Natural Sciences from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He then completed a bachelor’s in Medical Technologies from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA. He graduated from American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine and completed his residency in family medicine at the Baton Rouge General Family Medicine Residency Program in 2014.
Dr. Bridges is an active member of American Academy of Family Physicians, Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians (where he serves as Vice-President and Director of Legislative Affairs) and Louisiana State Medical Society. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. In his free time he enjoys LSU sporting events, cooking, hunting, fishing, and most of all spending time with his wife and two young daughters.
CME Accreditation
The AAFP has reviewed 2026 Monthly Webinar/Grand Rounds Series and deemed it acceptable for AAFP credit. Terms of approval is from 1/20/2026 to 12/23/2026. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Credit approval is for 1.00 In-Person, Live (could include online) AAFP Prescribed Credit(s) and includes the following session(s): “Obesity in 2026.”
