"A Tragic Case of Exertional Heat Stroke" will help physicians recognize and differentiate heat exhaustion, health illness and heat stroke. Dr. Hensler and Dr. Shaw will also review the acute management as well as inpatient management of each condition.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the presentation, the participant will be able to:

    1. Define heat exhaustion, heat Illness, and heat stroke
    2. Recognize the signs and symptoms of heat stroke
    3. Understand the acute management of heat exhaustion, heat Illness, and heat stroke
    4. Discuss the inpatient treatment of heat stroke
    5. Discuss the Louisiana High School Athletic Association guidance and Consensus statements regarding acclimatization and prevention of heat illnesses
