Tell us more about yourself:
I grew up in Alexandria but moved to Ruston to attend Louisiana Tech University. I went to med school at Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport as a Berstein Academic Scholar and completed my residency at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital where I served as chief resident in my 3rd year. I am active member of the medical staff at Minden Medical Center. As part of my practice I work closely with Regional Hospice, Professional Home Health Springhill, and Town & Country Nursing Home.
Why did you choose family medicine?
I always knew I would enjoy seeing a broad range of patients from infants to the elderly. As a family physician, I can treat both chronic conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, COPD, asthma and heart failure as well as acute illnesses like acute bronchitis, shingles, and lacerations. Being a family physician, I can also perform various procedures including pap smears, joint injections and minor skin procedures like biopsies.
What is one of the main focuses of your practice?
I believe prevention is very important. I try to help my patients current on screening tests like colorectal cancer screening, breast cancer screening, lung cancer screening, skin cancer screening, cervical cancer screening, glaucoma screening, and recommended vaccinations.
How do you spend your free time?
I am very active in my church and community. I enjoy traveling, reading, cooking, singing, playing guitar, and piano. Jody and I stay very busy with our 3 boys.
