For many years, completion of the ABFM-developed Clinical Self-Assessment (CSA) activity has offered a way for physicians to assess knowledge through simulated patient care scenarios. These scenarios evolve in response to the diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, subsequent investigations, and re-evaluation of the patient over time. As such, they have helped to evaluate the proficiency in patient management skills.
The CSA activities will be retiring on February 15, 2020 to make way for new self-assessment offerings as ABFM seeks to enhance a meaningful experience inside the Physician Portfolio. Diplomates will continue to have a wide variety of activities available to assess their proficiency in topic areas and earn family medicine certification self-assessment credits.
The schedule to retire the CSA Activities is as follows:
- February 15, 2020: The last day to start a CSA
- March 17, 2020: The last day to complete a CSA
- April 30, 2020: The last day to review a CSA inside your Physician Portfolio
The ABFM will continue to provide notification of the upcoming deadlines through the end of April 2020. Please suggest that Diplomates login to their Physician Portfolio to complete any CSA activity prior to March 17, 2020 to ensure credit is received.
