Good Luck

Medical students across all specialties are eagerly anticipating Match Day, this Friday, March 17, when they can finally open their envelopes and find out where they will be completing their residency training. After four years of medical school, program research, applications, interviews, and submitting their rank list, these students will now be ready to start planning for residency—the next step in their journey to becoming a physician.

This annual rite of passage for doctors-to-be is the culmination of the endless hours of hard work, countless nights of studying, years of college and grueling interviews.  The Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians would like to wish all fourth year medical students the best of luck this week! Earning your MD is a major accomplishment and you should be so proud!
"Match Week is an exciting time in the lives of Louisiana medical students," says Brian Harrell, MD, President. "All of the years of hard work and dedication have led up to this defining moment, and we wish all the medical students in Louisiana the best of luck."

If you’ve chosen family medicine as your specialty, we are especially excited for you and would love to hear from you. What are you feeling? What are you looking forward to in a career in family medicine? What has brought you to this (very exciting) point in your family medicine journey? We’d like to highlight student match week stories like yours on our website, social media, and/or in future publications.

Although Match Day celebrations may look a little different this year, this is a huge milestone in a medical student’s career and we could not be more excited for all of them! If you’d like to follow student journeys and celebrations on social media, follow the hashtag #Match2023.

The LAFP Board of Directors and staff wish our students and programs GOOD LUCK as Match Week begins!
