The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) is offering a number of $500 scholarships for U.S. medical students, family medicine residents, and international family physicians to attend the Global Health Summit Wednesday-Thursday, October 25-26, in Chicago, prior to the Family Medicine Experience.

The two-day event will help attendees:

  • Assess their strengths and needs to successfully participate in global health partnerships
  • Identify ethical, anti-racist ways to work with global partners toward equity
  • Learn to manage non-communicable and infectious diseases in resource-constrained settings
  • Develop leadership skills as a mentor and teacher in global health endeavors
  • Support family medicine faculty and training programs around the world
  • Explore opportunities to think globally in local settings.

The AAFP Center for Global Health Initiatives, working in collaboration with the AAFP Foundation, established the AAFP Global Health Summit Scholarship Fund. The scholarship provides financial support for U.S.-based students, residents, and colleagues in low- and middle-income countries to attend the Summit and co-present about the results of joint work in their area.

Students and residents who wish to apply for this scholarship must complete an online application that includes three essay questions no later than Monday, July 23. Details and eligibility requirements are available on the AAFP website.
