January thumbnailThe Foundation works to cultivate student career choice in the specialty of family medicine and ensure a thriving family physician workforce for Louisiana. Foundation programs have benefited our Louisiana medical students and residents by providing event scholarships and programming to offer meaningful, family medicine-focused experiences. Without our donors, the Foundation’s mission to cultivate student career choice in the specialty of family medicine would not be possible.

Here is an overview of our 2023 student and resident engagement activities:

  • Hosted the South Louisiana Procedural Workshops at LSU Health New Orleans
  • Participated in the 2 residency recruitment fairs in New Orleans and Shreveport
  • Hosted 10 Grand Rounds and Member District Socials
  • Coordinated the Louisiana Family Medicine booth at the AAFP National Conference in Kansas City in partnership with our family medicine residency programs
  • Provided funding for 2 Student Delegates to travel to the AAFP National Congress of Student Members
  • Provided funding for 2 Resident Delegates to travel to the AAFP National Congress of Family Medicine Residents
  • Sponsored 4 FMIG meetings by providing lunch
  • Family Medicine Residency Program visits
  • Hosted the 2023 Annual Research Poster Contest
  • Hosted the Resident Student Track in conjunction with the 76th Annual Assembly

The LAFP is working hard to bring a robust calendar of events in 2024 for our resident and student members. Consider making a tax deductible donation to the LAFP Foundation. Donations can be made through the secure online portal or by mailing a check to our office: 919 Tara Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70806.
