Effected by the Change Healthcare Cyberattack? Let AAFP Know!

The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) continues to monitor the impacts of the February 21 Change Healthcare cyberattack. Now that we are more than one month removed from original attack, following is an update on how the AAFP is urgently advocating to mitigate the impacts of this far-reaching event.

AAFP senior leadership has met and continues to communicate with leaders at Health and Human Services (HHS), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and UnitedHealth Group (UHG) to share concerns about the disruption of services that are significantly interrupting cash flow. UHG, CMS, and other payers have announced advanced and accelerated funding programs.

The AAFP also wants to hear directly from members about the impact the Change Healthcare Disruption has had on your practice. Please share your story, including:

  • To what degree have your services been impacted? Which disruptions have been most harmful to you, your practice, and your patients?
  • What national and local payers have reached out to you to offer technical assistance or funding?
  • If you have applied for financial assistance, how easy/difficult was the application process?
  • If you received funding, how meaningful is the funding?
  • What are the patient impacts, if any?
  • Please describe specific examples of the impacts on lost revenue, up to and including staff layoffs, closures, etc., you are comfortable sharing.
