FMIG Connection
Family Medicine Interest Groups (FMIGs) are an excellent resource for students interested in exploring family medicine in an informal, but educational (and fun) setting. FMIGs provide programming and information that may not be offered in the medical school curriculum. Medical students can hear about the history of family medicine and its future and be exposed to a wide range of clinical skills and procedures important to family physicians.
The LAFP Foundation has created this section as a clearing house for all things FMIG related – including resources to help facilitate your FMIG and opportunities to connect with your community.
The American Academy of Family Physicians also has a valuable national FMIG Network to aid communication and the exchange of best practices between FMIG students and faculty leaders across the country. The network consists of campus-based faculty and student FMIG leaders, appointed regional coordinators, and one elected national coordinator. These coordinators serve as consultants to and resources for FMIGs.
Louisiana’s FMIGs are in region 1 of the National Network. Stay up-to-date on events happening in your region by joining the region 1 community.
