On Thursday, May 22, 2025, the LAFP hosted the Baton Rouge/Lafayette Grand Rounds and Member District Social at Ruffino's on the River. Our members enjoyed visiting with friends over cocktails before the dinner presentation hosted by the Baton Rouge General Family Medicine Residency Program. The speaker for the evening, LeaAnn A. Love, MD, PGY-2, presented “Cirrhosis Unveiled: A Primary Care Approach to Diagnosis and Management.”
In addition to the CME presentation, both the Lafayette and Baton Rouge General Family Medicine Residency Programs presented an overview of their respective quality improvement projects:
- Lafayette QI Presentation - “Food Fight: Assessing Barriers to Food Insecurity Resources” presented by Claudius Jean Baptiste, MD
- BRG QI Presentation - “LabQuest: Championing HIV Screening in FHC” presented by David Anderson, MD, Aidan Hutcherson, MD, Alexia Montas, MD and Shantasia Thomas, MD
We were also excited to recognize the following members for their membership anniversary with the LAFP:

- Mark Dawson, MD, FAAFP – 45 Years
