Elections 2023 web thumbnailServing as an LAFP Delegate while in medical school or residency is a tremendous opportunity to develop leadership skills, connect with colleagues early in your career, and be the liaison of family medicine education in Louisiana to our membership. As a student and resident, you are the future of Family Medicine, and serving as a delegate ensures that issues important to you and your colleagues are communicated to the full membership of LAFP. It helps our active members connect with you early in your career and establish relationships that will last as you transition into your practice.

LAFP Delegate Positions

  • LAFP Board of Directors – The delegates represent the resident and student membership constituency to the Board of Directors
  • Delegate to General Assembly – The delegates represent the resident and student membership constituency at the LAFP General Assembly held each year. The delegates will have full-floor privileges, including voting at the LAFP General Assembly.
  • AAFP National Conference Delegates - The delegates represent the resident and student membership constituency during the AFFP National Conference by writing and coordinating the submission of resolutions and voting on the proposed student and resident resolutions and voting in the election of national student and resident officers.
Come experience your membership to the fullest by serving in one of LAFP’s delegate positions. For each delegate position, two resident positions and two student positions will be elected. One will serve as the delegate and the other as the alternate delegate.
