Folgar headshot 01In a profile article from 2004 in the Livingston Parish News, Dr. Folgar stated, "I would love to practice in the area. That would be my dream job.” After completing her undergraduate degree at Southeastern, medical school at LSU Health Shreveport and residency at the Lake Charles Family Medicine Residency Program, Dr. Folgar is currently practicing at Ochsner Baton Rouge Primary Care in the Lifestyle, Wellness and Weight Management Clinic. She is board certified in Family Medicine, Obesity and Lifestyle Medicine.

Dr. Folgar talked about how she chose to be a family physician. "I didn't really definitively decide to be a physician until after my first year of college. She continued, "I always enjoyed learning and science, but what really drew me to it was the role our family doctor played when my mother was dying. He was there as a friend and as an advocate for the family.” Her favorite aspect of being a family physician is seeing the entire family and developing long lasting relationships with patients.
 
Dr. Folgar’s inspiration to become was her own family physician. She continued, "When you're young you think a doctor can fix everything, but it was eye-opening to see the role he can play in all phases of life. I was drawn to the ability to have that kind of relationship with patients."
 
Dr. Folgar lives close to home in Livingston Parsh. She loves spending time with friends and family. Away from the office she enjoys going to antique stores and being actively involved in her church.
