The 2025 AAFP FUTURE Conference was held in person in Kansas City July 31 – August 2, 2025.  The LAFP Foundation Board of Directors would like to thank Ochsner Health for being the 2025 Exclusive National Conference Sponsor.  Without that, we would not have been able to send our full delegation of resident and student delegates or have 2 booth spaces.

Once again, we took a “Louisiana Family Medicine” approach with our recruitment efforts.  This year’s theme, “Come Join Our Krewe”, boasted a Mardi Gras theme of purple, green and gold promoting the true spirit of Louisiana.  We offered a “one stop shop” for interested students to learn more about each of our family medicine residency programs, talk with residents and program faculty.

Representatives from the following programs were onsite to promote our family medicine residency programs:

  • DePaul FMRP –Associate Program Director, Thomas Santamaria, MD
  • East Jefferson FMRP – Chandler Young, DO, Chief Resident and James Vu, MD, PGY 3
  • Kenner FMRP – Lindsay Liles, MD, FAAFP, , Associate Program Director and Lilian Pham, MD, PGY 1, Alternate Resident Delegate
  • Shreveport EM/FM Residency Program - Sodiq Adebeshin, MD, PGY 1, Resident Delegate
  • St. Tammany FMRP – Catherine Pechon, MD, FAAFP, Faculty

Our resident and student delegates listed below participated in all Congress proceedings:

  • Sodiq Adebeshin, MD, Resident Delegate, LSU Health Shreveport EM/FM Program
  • Lilian Pham, MD, Resident Alternate Delegate, Kenner Family Medicine Residency Program
  • Michael Crick, MS, Student Delegate, Tulane SOM
  • Abigail Mowen, MS, Student Alternate Tulane SOM

Tulane School of Medicine hosted a Kansas City BBQ dinner for our Louisiana students, residents and faculty at Gates on Main.

Plans are in the works for the 2026 conference.  It’s easy to make donation online via our secure form or call Lee Ann Albert at 225.923.3313.  Help promote Louisiana Family Medicine in Kansas City!
