On July 14, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the calendar year (CY) 2026 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) and Quality Payment Program (QPP) proposed rule. CMS also released an accompanying press release, MPFS Fact Sheet, QPP Fact Sheet, and Medicare Shared Savings Program Fact Sheet.

Comments on the proposed rule are due by Friday, September 12. The AAFP will thoroughly review the proposed rule and provide comments to CMS. The final rule will be released around Saturday, November 1, and will take effect on Tuesday, January 1, 2026.
