hannah williams webThe LAFP is excited to recognize Dr. Hannah Williams as our February Member of the Month. She is one of the newest faculty members at Tulane School of Medicine serving as Assistant Professor.  She sees patients in an ambulatory primary clinic offering full spectrum primary care services to both pediatric and adult patients.  Dr. Williams  also is the Clerkship Director.  In this role, she works with the third-year medical students completing their family medicine rotation.

Dr. Williams grew up in Bay St. Louis, MS.  She attended medical school at William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Hattiesburg, MS and completed residency at Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center in Rome, GA, where she served as the chief resident.  During her residency, she discovered that she loved spending time teaching students and working with her co-residents. She then spent a year at Wake Forest University SOM completing a fellowship year in academic family medicine.  That experience led her to realize that she primarily enjoys working in undergraduate medical education with students.

Dr. Williams holds a board certification in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment. Her clinical interests include adolescent health, trauma-informed care, preventative care, and medical education. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Osteopathic Association, and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.

We asked Dr. Williams what advice she gives to her students.  She stated, “Squeeze every opportunity for learning out of your clinical rotations. Even if you're sure you want to enter one particular specialty, there is absolutely an opportunity to learn something applicable during each rotation.”  She continued, “Family Medicine allows you to tailor your career to your interests and goals.”

Outside of medicine, Dr. Williams enjoys yoga, cooking, and walking through Audubon Park with her husband and son. She is happy to have recently returned to New Orleans after completing her medical training throughout the southeast.

Please help us congratulate Hannah Williams, DO as our February Member of the Month!
