The Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians cordially invites you to attend a CME presentation titled, “Basics of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis.”

Learning Objectives:

  1. Demonstrate a basic understanding of evaluation/management of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis to improve care of this population.
  2. Distinguish red flags for referral.
  3. Evaluate pros/cons of scoliosis screening.

About the Speaker:

Ruikang Liu, MD, FAAP is a board-certified pediatrician with a certificate of added qualifications in sports medicine, and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at LSU Health Shreveport at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport. Dr. Liu attended medical school at Penn State College of Medicine, completed his pediatric residency at Penn State Children's Hospital in Hershey, including a Chief Year.  After residency, Dr. Liu completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Colorado.  He currently directs the sports medicine rotation with the LSU medical school and family medicine residency. He is also a Co-Head Team Physician for Grambling State University.  Dr. Liu specializes in pediatric sports medicine, including concussions, non-operative fracture management, especially growth plate injuries, as well as various procedures such as joint injections and peripheral nerve hydrodissection. He has a personal and professional interest in combat sports such as boxing and other martial arts. He, his wife and two dogs are honored to call Shreveport home.

The AAFP has reviewed 2024 MONTHLY WEBINAR/GRAND ROUNDS SCHEDULE and deemed it acceptable for AAFP credit. Term of approval is from 01/25/2024 to 01/24/2025. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Credit approval includes the following session(s):1.00 In-Person, Live (could include online) AAFP Prescribed Credit(s) - “Basics of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis".
