The Louisiana Family Doctor is a journal, published quarterly and mailed in mid- March, June, September and December. Subject matter includes features on healthcare legislation, as well as a scope of other topics that affect today's family physicians.

The Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians (LAFP) is accepting nominations for the following 2024 awards:
- Family Physician of the Year
- Gerald R. Gehringer Family Medicine Award – LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans
- Michael O. Fleming Family Medicine Award – LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport
- Tulane Family Medicine Excellence Award
- Resident Award of Excellence
These annual awards recognize the best of the best family physicians, family medicine residents, and medical students in the great state of Louisiana. These individuals go above and beyond-the-call-of-duty to promote and share the ideals of family medicine not only to their patients, but to their communities.
Does this sound like anyone you know? Nominate a family physician, resident, or advocate of family medicine who deserves recognition for providing exemplary care, are involved in their community, or are leaders in their practice.
Nominations can be submitted online for the Family Physician of the Year, Annual Student Awards, and Resident Award of Excellence. The awards criteria, eligibility, and nomination guidelines and processes are available on the LAFP website.
The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 22, 2024.
